Symbology Series - Norse Protection Runes

"The Helm of Awe: Is mostly still unexplained but possibly a symbol of protection as in one of the sagas Sigurd wears it before he fights the dragon. The Vegvisir Compass: The rough translation is "that which shows the way". The Ginfaxi: Used as a good luck symbol. I have also added in several runes for the stars, trees, protection and Odin's eye."

Symbology Series - The Unalome "The Unalome represents each person’s journey through life as they discover their own path to freedom. It refers to the dot or curl between Buddha’s eyebrows the ‘urna’ or third eye.  The symbol itself is made up of three main parts: the base spiral representing birth and the beginning of spiritual awakening. The starting point with its initial confusion as each person finds their way and moves along the winding path. The central spiral maps the direction. The obstacles, challenges and loops which become less and less influential as more awareness is gained. Nothing is linear, a reminder to explore and respond to the ever changing and complimentary polarities. The final part is a straight line, literally coming into alignment with one’s purpose, inner truth and wisdom. Finishing with the three dots of total liberation, free from all entanglements which represents enlightenment."

These designs were inspired by a trip to Costa Rica and its mind blowing botanical wonders as well as the inspiring indigenous creatures.  The Golden Shrimp.

Featuring; the Golden Shrimp, Angel’s Trumpet,

Blackeyed Susan, Rattlesnake, Yellow Jacobean, Golden-Browned Chlorophonia and the Green Crowned Brilliant. Torch Ginger

Featuring Torch Ginger, Hibiscus, Hanging Lobster Claw, Redringer and Lobster Claw. Also featured are the Green Iguana, Summer Tanger and The Brilliant Redskimmer. It was really interesting finding out abut these plants and creatures so it's a pleasure to share them on the ol' wooden canvas.
